Bar chart
The elements of the chart are represented by so called bars. It can display only the data in the compression.
Bar chart for Google (GOOG)
Each bar consists of four elements: open, high, low, close. They represent opening price, maximum price, minimum price and the closing price. Each of them refers to the period determined by chart compression (e.g. for minute compression, open price is price at the beginning of time period of each minute).
Bar element
Bar charts are very good for displaying large amounts of data. Because of the simplicity of drawing elements, even when they are densely spaced they are clearly visible.
